Injection Molding Setup / Process Technician
Duties Include:
- Set up molds in all injection molding machines (horizontal, vertical or two-shot) by referencing shop packet, manufacturer spec sheets, process sheets and set up check sheets
- Develop new processes or improve existing processes by sampling new materials or tools and accurately documenting results
- All start ups and newly developed processes must produce parts that meet quality and productivity standards
- Set up and program on all robotic automation
- Set up all press side secondary equipment such as drill presses, pad printers and sonic welders
- Set up press side operator work stations that are functional, safe and organized
Essential Responsibilities Include:
- Tear down existing setups on machines and store all unneeded equipment neatly and safely
- Properly and safely rig and lift molds and equipment to move them to and from press or storage areas
- Set up, create and run new programs for on-press robots
- Start up any new or existing job on any press with or without a process sheet
- Troubleshoot process problems on new or existing jobs with or without process sheets
- Sample new molds and materials to debug tooling and develop new processes
- Make recommendations to engineering and toolmaker to improve tooling
- Fill out tooling work orders to have molds repaired or serviced as needed
Prerequisites:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints method sheets, process sheets, work orders, safety rules, etc.
- Ability to effectively relay information to co-workers about technical issues relating to set up
- Ability to hear and understand verbal technical instruction
- With or without a calculator, must be able to accurately add, subtract, multiply, divide whole numbers and calculate figures/amounts such as fractions or percentages. Also must have the ability to apply these mathematical concepts to practical situations
- Able to accurately read a tape measure, level and caliper
- Must have basic understanding of Microsoft applications and ability to do basic data entry in spreadsheets and/or database programs
- Must meet or exceed the physical demands and be able to cope with the work environment of the position. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- Prior experience as a General Service / Material Handler preferred
